Told you!!

Yeah, I was totally right when I guessed that I would do this blog for like 4 posts then never do it again. But I've decided to give you a little update. Maybe its just because I haven't been at a computer for more than 15 minutes at a time this whole summer or maybe I'm just lazy, but whatever the reason is aside, it's great to be back and forcing you guys to hear about my life.

So If you missed the memo, I've been in Colorado for the past 2 months. I've been working as a camp counselor at a camp called Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp. For those of you who have been a camp counselor before, you know that its hard to spell couselor correctly all the time. See right there? I just left out an 'n'. I'll leave the mistake for emphasis.

You would also know that you get paid to be a little kid for the summer. How have I spent my summer? I played games, went on hikes, did arts and crafts, sang a lot of songs, and ate camp food. Yeah I know that sounds like a camper's week to me too. But the unfortunate part is that I have to be the "big" little kid of the group. Which means taking them to the bathroom, telling them to shut up when necessary and dealing with homesickness and vomit, not always at different times.... But seriously all jokes aside I love my job. Its a great way to spread to the kids the Word of God, and outdoor ministry is wwwaaaay important in a kid's life. So I'm just happy to be a part of that.

I also noticed that I haven't taken nearly as many pictures as last year. Like last year I had 300, this year i might get 30. I just say that cause I was about to say "I'll post some pictures!!!"... what pictures? Maybe some good pictures from last year...
Me at high ropes

Just a fire. But it looks awesome

Single rainbow about a 3rd way across the sky

One of our day hike destinations: Cirque Meadows

Yeah theres a lot of mountains

We see moose all the time
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this extra little taste of my life. And don't worry guys, only 2 more weeks till I get back. I'll be seeing you guys soon!!!

Peace.

Sky Ranch!

So, here I am in Colorado, working at Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp. Fort Collins more specifically. I have just finished my staff training. A grueling 2.5 weeks learning about Sky ranch, the rope courses, Jesus, and how to deal with kids who pee the bed. Yup. We covered just about everything. It was a fantastic experience, and I would do it all over again, but I was definitely out of contact with the internet for a long time. The only reason I'm on it right now, is because I'm down at a friends house for a night.

I don't have a whole lot to say, quite honestly, because I've just been up in the mountains for so long, but I thought I'd make a short appearance for all my faithful followers (haha).  I would like to say that I'm making tons of new friends, loving nature and hiking in the mountains, and also really enjoying getting a little deeper into my faith life, which is a good thing for me.

That's all the big news from good ole CO. So until next time, stay classy, everyone. And have a pleasant tomorrow.

Last Days in Champaign

Hello again, friends. These here are my last days before I go off to Colorado. I've been doing a lot of 3 things: packing/getting prepared, playing Red Dead Redemption, and hanging out with friends.

I've seriously got some of the best friends ever! And it's sad I'm not gonna be able to see them for awhile. But haha, I've done things with my friends every night since Friday.
Friday- Tim's house
Saturday- Levi's house
Sunday- Kerry's apartment
Monday- Watched movies with Chelsea
Tuesday- Levi's house again with Andy and Chelsea.

So tonight is the first night I've just been chilling. Tomorrow i'm gonna see the 25th annual Putnam  County Spelling Bee put on by my old high school. I saw it about 4 years ago on spring break in New York, and it was just kind of on a whim cause my family wanted to see a Broadway show. It turned out to be SUPER hilarious. Its about a spelling bee, obviously, and the kids just spell words, mess up, get disqualified, there are even audience volunteers for participation. It was really funny, but what really got my are the songs. The songs are so fun, upbeat and quirky, and I've listened to 'em ever since I got the soundtrack at that show. So now this is my most sought-after show in my eyes, and I realllly wanna be in it. Figures that Wilson (drama teacher) would do it two years after I left, even though I suggested it! SIGH>>> thats how it goes i guess... If anyone sees a local audition for it, let me know!!

I guess I just miss theater in general, I haven't done it in so long. And i would like to have thought I was pretty good at it. I mean... I played Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. Thats pretty good, right? I do improv now which is the goofy laid-back cousin of stage theater, and I love it and everything, but it doesn't quite equal the feeling of putting in 3 months work and putting out a great production. Oh well, maybe those days are behind me.

Anyway. As I said I've been playing Red Dead Redemption, and theres this part [SPOILER ALERT] where you do this mission for this guy that knows you, but doesn't tell you his name. You do one part where you can either stop a man from cheating on his wife, or encourage him, then another part where you can either help or rob a nun. Then in the last meeting you get mad at him and shoot him, but he doesn't react to your bullets, and just walks away. It kinda freaked me out. Cause it was the first.... supernatural thing that happened in the game. I guess I wasn't expecting it. But I researched it a little, some say he's a ghost, and some say he's some Holy God or Satan or something. Who know? I believe in God, and in ghosts (is that possible?) but I suppose I may be looking to far into it for a video game.

Well thanks for letting me waste 5 minutes of your time, everyone. I said I'd make it worth your while. Go to www.typeracer.com and see how fast you type, and race other people in typing out quotes and stuff. It's actually pretty addicting.. and good practice for my blog, huh? I

I bid you adieu, friends! I leave you with one of my favorite pictures ever:

Wooooooaaaah We're halfway there!!!

WOOOAHHHH! Livin on a prayer!!

Done with college that is. Aside from one more measly CWL final this friday, I'm as free as a bird!! It's hard to believe I'm already 1/2 done with college. Like... I'll be an upperclassmen next year. Wow. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited! =D

So I packed up my junk and left Newman today. Last time I'll ever live there. Not that it was bad, don't get me wrong. It was just... well it was my time to be heading out of there. I'm super excited for apartment living next year, and I'm just ready to be "really" parent free, you know? Some things I'll miss about dorm life? The nice facility, the warm meals, lots of good study spots, secure space, AMAZING location.... ooooohh GOD WHAT AM I DOING?? haha just kidding. What I'm looking forward to? Living with my best friend, on my own. Eat what I want for dinner, and on my own time. Just a few of the many things.

Just bought a new game Red Dead Redemption. Its a story about an outlaw in the Wild West, made by Rockstar same people who made GTA III- V. Played about 3 hours of it today. It's really fun. Amazing gameplay, killer graphics. When people die it looks really realistic, like how they fall and the blood spray and everything. Look out for cougars, they'll kill your horse and then attack you, then want to sleep with younger men.. haha ;) No, but I did lose my horse that way.. I'll be working on this game until I leave for Colorado.

Oh yes, if I didn't mention before, I'm going to Colorado to work at Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp up outside Fort Collins. It'll be my second summer there, especially since my girlfriend will be there this time and I wont miss her as much. I'm ready for another fulfilling summer. =]

So I guess that also means limited internet access since I'm up in the mountains working, and limited blog posts. I'll try to get one in every now and again.

Well that looks like its about it for me! Until next time, Iiiii'm Jordan! (Is that from a t.v. show? anyone know? sounds familiar)

OH! Link to camp i'm working at: http://skyranchcolorado.org/

And... a picture of the green lantern in honor of that movie coming out soon:

Jumping Right Into It.

Hey everyone! Is it just me or is blogging coming back in style? It petered out like... mid 90's to about 2010 and now it seems more and more people are getting them again. I thought I'd hop on, see if I can't just share some of my thoughts with the world.

The inspiration to start a blog came probably from my friend amy's page http://eatinglikekings.blogspot.com/
Cool food blog showing her and her boyfriend's scrumptious cooking.
But anyways, kids, I just wanted to spend this first post giving the reasons why/why not I am making this blog.
1. This blog is NOT a livejournal or internet diary. Good lord, if I told you my day and what I did, you'd all be bored to tears.
2. This blog is NOT meant to be offensive/controversial. I'm just sharing my thoughts on different things: entertainment, movies, school, friends, family, randomness, video games, anecdotes, my interests, science, religion, pop culture, humor, comedy and the like. The title says it all: it's eclectic.... and illini just because. If you don't like it... don't read it. =]
3. This blog IS! for entertainment and is meant to be enjoyed. I don't really care if you read the whole thing, half of it, or 3 words. But, if you're gonna read 3 words read: JUST FOR FUN!
That's also the reason that I have a curtain as my background. I'm just here to perform for you guys!
4. I guess the last reason to do this blog is something to do when I'm bored... which seems to happen more often than not.

Well, now that that's over with! Let's introduce ourselves. My name is Jordan Lange, and you are.... oh! yes interesting, that's my cousin's name. Very nice weather we're having. You want to know more about me, you say? Alright..

I go to the University of Illinois- Champaign Urbana, Illinois, and I study Molecular and Cellular Biology. It's kind of a mouthful to say and sometimes I mess up and feel really stupid. 'Wow! you can't even pronounce your major, your grades must be terrible!' And they're not. At least not too bad. I try my bestest.
Right now I live in a dorm with my roommate Ben. He's a cool guy, though we don't hang out a lot together. Dorm life is sub-par and I am counting down the dreaded days before it's over. Actually just 5 left... hmmm.. excellent. Next year i'll be in an apartment with my best friend from highschool Andy. Looking forward to it greatly.

Hmm... about myself....about myself... I love music. I play guitar, trombone, piano I love to sing. I'm working at a Lutheran camp this summer in Colorado. I like watching t.v. shows online and playing video games on the ps3 i don't have... yet. I'm planning on getting one for next year. I keep thinking I'll magically have more time to do more things just because I'm in an apartment... but dammit i'll make time!

Eh... thats about it for me today. If I keep up with this thing more than 2 months I'll be thoroughly surprised with myself. But we'll see... just enjoy it while it lasts kiddies.

Oh, and before you go. I promise i'll try to post something worthwhile on every submission... at least to make clicking the link and reading it worthwhile.... so i'd just suggest checking out this guy Toby Turner a.k.a Tobuscus on youtube. He has a gaming channel, videolog channel, regular videos, cutewinfail videos. He's just pretty fricken hilarious, I'll have to admit. More than I could ever hope to be. Here's a link to his site and youtube shenanigans:
